A good healthy food lifestyle is one of the best ways you can live healthy and prevent the risks of developing a disease. The food options are so many, that you may feel overwhelmed in the process of choosing the best. You can eat some foods in order to improve your physical performance; you can eat others to lose some weight and to increase your overall health.

Here are some of the best choices you can make in what foods are concerned. If you introduce these items in your weight loss diet, you can be sure the results won’t take long to appear.

Bananas – These fruit are potassium rich and make a perfect on the go snack. They help you regulate your blood pressure and are a good source of fiber.

Beef (lean) – The greatest advantage with beef is that it contains a lot of protein, zinc and iron. If you pay a little more attention while cooking it, beef can be a great alternative to other types of meat, especially in weight loss. So choose round, flank cuts of beef and eliminate all the fat excess prior to cooking. Don’t fry it either. You could broil or bake it instead.

Beans – Being high in protein, beans are a great source of fiber. The B vitamin that they contain is perfect for building red blood cells in your organism.

Broccoli – Remember you mom always made you eat broccoli? She knows best! This vegetable contains C vitamin in high levels, not to mention fiber and folic acid, calcium, magnesium and iron. All these nutrients in one vegetable. How convenient!

Brown rice – If you can’t imagine yourself living without carbohydrates, then at least switch your regular white rice with brown rice. The latter provides twice the amount of fiber than the first and it also contains nutrients like zinc and selenium, which are not present in the white rice.

Chicken – Chicken is recommended by all dieticians as an alternative to all other types of meat. The reason this happens is that skinless chicken breast contains a lot less fat, but more B6 vitamin, which is essential in protein metabolizing process. Don’t forget to remove the skin as, unfortunately, it contains enough fat to make a difference in your weight. And if you are afraid the chicken won’t be as tasty without its skin, then remove it after you have cooked it.

Grapes – Some weight loss diets consist only of grape pulp and juice, so you can imagine how eating this fruit influences your weight. Grapes contain a mineral called boron, which helps you maintain healthy bones.

Oatmeal – Oatmeal is the best source of soluble fiber, which has a positive effect upon your blood, by lowering the cholesterol level in it.

Potatoes – You probably can’t imagine the benefits of potatoes, as most diets seem to eliminate them from their plan. But believe it or not, potatoes have more benefits than disadvantages. A 6 ounce potato only can provide you double the amount of potassium that a banana provides.

Salmon – Fish is the healthiest meat. Salmon is an omega-3 fatty food that will certainly help you prevent heart diseases and lose some weight if you add it in your diet at least once a week.

Water – The fuel your body works on. It is the most important nutrient the chemical processes of your body need in order to function well. An average individual should drink up to 8 glasses of water a day, but if you are following a weight loss diet program, make sure you drink the amount of water equivalent to half of your entire weight. It will help you flush out all toxins and residue and it will keep your body hydrated.
