Skipping Meals Is Not A Good Idea

Many dieters skip meals because they believe that they’ll end up eating less this way and lose weight. But most of the time, this trick doesn’t work. A common sense explanation is:

When you skip a meal, you get way too hungry.

When you are too hungry, you won’t be able to control yourself at the next meal. As a result, you’ll often end up eating more than 2 meals’ worth of calories.

Another scientific explanation why skipping meals can make you fatter, not skinnier is the fact that eating a huge meal creates a large insuline spike, so more fat gets deposited as a result.

Many studies have found that people who skip meals are much more likely to be obese than those who don’t. In particular, a study conducted by University of Massachusetts Medical School in 2003 found that people who skip breakfast altogether are 4.5 times more likely to be obese.
