Setting Weight Loss Goals
The main purpose of setting goals in life is to achieve something you lack or desire. You need to concentrate your attention on that specific goal and set objectives in order to reach towards achievement. When it comes to weight loss, you should set realistic goals that include weight, physical exercise, food habits and psychological goals.
To be frank, goal setting for weight loss is not as simple as you may think. You must pay very much attention and be extremely realistic, because if you set goals to high, you may expose yourself to disappointment, but if you can’t identify goals, then the chances for something to happen are quite small or none.
Visual Support
There must be a visual item of you which brings a smile on your face and a feeling of satisfaction. Whether it is a picture of a thinner you, or a picture of a person whose figure you like and desire, it is good that you place it in as many places possible, so that you can see it everyday. Most experts in weight loss agree that it is easier to lose weight if you can visualize it. Whether you keep it on the mirror, whether you keep it in your wallet, the picture of the thin happy you will help you lose weight by reminding yourself that there are chances for you to look like that once again.
Did you use to have a favorite pair of jeans when you were thin? One you would wear anytime, anywhere? It is time you pulled that pair out of the wardrobe, as it will remind yourself of your goal in weight loss. You can even try wearing those jeans again…they might not fit you perfectly, but you don’t have to zip them all the way. You will feel a lot better, not to mention the fact that you will desire more and more to make them fit perfectly. Don’t get disappointed if you see you are too fat to fit in them, think positive, visualize yourself in them and consider yourself a few inches/pounds away from entirely achieving your goal.
How about that favorite clothing catalog of yours? Did you through it away because you lost all hope? It is time you picked it up and noted some clothing items you would like to wear if you were thin. Again, visualize yourself dressed in a beautiful evening dress. It will motivate you to actually lose weight. You can even try to be your future designer, by starting a small scrapbook of new clothes you would want to wear.
In the end, it is all about having a positive attitude. Feeling good about yourself will make you feel comfortable and will motivate you for further actions. And don’t worry: even if it seems hard at first, you can do it eventually.
Setting Goals for Weight Loss
It is very important that you should write down all goals. An unwritten goal remains just a wish. First, note the total number of pounds you would like to lose. For example, write down as main weight loss goal an amount of 25lbs. Then get to work. If at the weekly measurement you discover you have lost only 2lbs, don’t despair. Actually that is a very good value for a moderate weight loss diet. Besides, those 2 lbs alone can make a difference when it comes to clothing size.
Don’t forget to reward yourself! The moment you reach a desired size, you should immediately adjust your wardrobe by buying some clothes having the new size. Also, indulge yourself into your favorite snacks. Moderation is the answer so it is okay if you eat one of the unhealthy but tasty dishes once in a while.
Persist! Stick to your goals and you will reach your desired objectives. So you lost only one pound a week. That’s not a reason to despair or to give up your goals! Think that you have lost something, even if a small amount, and try to lose something more, or at least maintain your weight. Good things come slower!
