‘No Pain No Gain’ Strategy is Not Always A Good Idea

Filed under: Exercise And Fitness — @ 8:12 am on October 25, 2005

When people jump on the exercise bandwagon, some exercise way too much and too hard too soon. They go from one extreme to another - from being a couch potato to running on a treadmill for hours like a crazy horse!

Not only it is likely to lead to a fast burnout and going back to the “couch potato” ways, but it can also result in sports injuries. According to this article on Yahoo, “the highest numbers of sports-related injuries came from bicycling, basketball, baseball and running… The most common injuries come from overuse and affect knees, ankles, lower back and shoulders. ”

Like with everything in life, moderation is important - even when it comes to exercising.
