To Get To Your Goal Weight, You Need A Plan

Filed under: Weight Loss Tips — @ 11:21 am on November 18, 2005

“A goal without a plan is just a wish. ”
~Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Do you have a definite plan on how you are going to lose weight?

Do you jump from one diet extreme to another, not knowing what to do to get to where you want to be?

You need a PLAN.

The reason why most diets fail is they don’t give you an exact plan to follow. Calories, points, carbs, etc. is just way too confusing. Having too much information and not knowing what to do with it is quite frustrating.

That’s why I designed the Foolproof 30 Day Diet PLAN. It tells you exactly what to do - no guesswork. You simply follow it to get from point A (your current weight) to point B (your goal weight).

No guessing, no thinking - just quick results.

You need a plan. Now you have it.

Body Image And Sexual Desire

A survey conducted by Penn State University found that 21 percent of women couldn’t think of a single attractive feature of themselves! That’s 1 out of 5 women has such poor body image!

According to this survey, the less attractive the woman perceived herself, the more likely she was to report a decrease in her sexual desire.

When you feel ugly, you are not in a mood for sex, and if you don’t have sex often, that makes you feel even less attractive. It’s a vicious cycle!

Come on, it’s time to start feeling good about yourself! Sitting there and feeling fat and ugly is not going to help your situation. As I said in my other post on body image, first you have to assess how you really look, then either be happy now with what you’ve got or do something about your appearance so you are happy later.

Weight Loss Success Story From Doris

Filed under: Weight Loss Success Stories — @ 8:00 am on November 16, 2005

Here’s the weight loss success story that I got a few days ago from Doris:

“Melanie,

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have lost 17 lbs and 14 inches in 30 days!

Thank you for this very do-able diet. I had 2 special-occasion dinners off the diet. Had they not occurred, I know that I would have probably lost 20 lbs.

The weekly shopping list and menu plans are the major tools making this one of the easiest diets I have ever followed–and I have followed a great number over the past 30 years. I particularly enjoyed the fact that there were leftovers.

The stirfry was extremely tasty and delicious. So delicious in fact, that my adult son ate a portion and asked that I continue to make this in the future “even when you’re not on the diet.” I was pleasantly surprised at how easy and simple the recipes were, yet so very delicious.

Again, thank you. This is just what I needed to get me on the right track.”

Calories Burned By Walking

How many calories you burn by walking depends on your walking speed and your weight. The faster you walk, the more calories you burn. Also, the more you weigh, the more calories you burn.

Many treadmills and charts display the averages of calories burned (the averages are usually based on a person who weighs 150 lbs). If you weigh more than 150 lbs, you will burn more calories than displayed value, if you weigh less, you will burn less.

Some exercise machines are smart enough to account for your weight when displaying the calories, but those are few and far between.

Here’s the chart displaying the number of calories burned by walking 1 mile based on your walking speed and your weight (source: About.com):

Weight in Pounds
Speed Pounds 100 120 140 160 180 200 220
2.0 mph 65 80 93 105 120 133 145
2.5 mph 62 74 88 100 112 124 138
3.0 mph 60 72 83 95 108 120 132
3.5 mph 59 71 83 93 107 119 130
4.0 mph 59 70 81 94 105 118 129
4.5 mph 69 82 97 110 122 138 151
5.0 mph 77 92 108 123 138 154 169
6.0 mph 86 99 114 130 147 167 190
7.0 mph 96 111 128 146 165 187 212

What Is Your Body Image?

Body image is a person’s perception of how he or she looks. Common terms associated with “body image” are “positive” and “negative”. People with positive body image accept their body the way it is and like their looks for what they are. People with negative body image are always unhappy about their appearance, no matter what they look like.

In addition to being positive or negative, the body image can also be “realistic” or “skewed”.

Coffee Doesn’t Raise Blood Pressure, But Soda Does

Filed under: Weight Loss Tips, Weight Loss News — @ 7:23 am on November 12, 2005

It was long believed that caffeine causes high blood pressure. Not so, the new study says.

According to a new study , coffee doesn’t raise blood pressure, despite the caffeine content. The study ran for 12 years and included more than 150,000 women. According to the study, even those women who drank over 6 cups of coffee per day were not at an increased risk of high blood pressure.

However, those who drank caffeinated sodas (regular or diet) had much greater risk of blood pressure - up to 44% higher risk! It’s probably some other chemicals in the soft drinks that cause this effect.

So, here’s another reason to dump those soft drinks!
