Here’s Why Metabolism Decreases With Age

Filed under: Weight Loss Facts — @ 9:39 am on October 12, 2005

Its because as we age, our muscle mass decreases. Muscle burns calories. Less muscle = less calories burned = more fat!

To counter the effects of aging on metabolism, start a weight-training program to gain back the muscle.

If you haven’t done any weight training before, I recommend the following program:

Don’t worry, you won’t “bulk up” :) You will just get a nicely toned body and increase your metabolism!

Is Someone Sabotaging Your Weight Loss Success?

Filed under: Weight Loss Motivation — @ 9:01 am on October 11, 2005

Are there any people you know who are sabotaging your diet and fitness efforts? To avoid being manipulated, you need to recognize their ploys to get you off-track.

And then, depending on who those people are, either:

* Have a heart-to-heart talk and explain that you don’t appreciate their actions
* Ignore them (laughing inside at their “nice tries”)
* Avoid dealing with them unless absolutely necessary

Are You Losing Weight To Please Others?

Filed under: Weight Loss Motivation — @ 8:03 am on October 10, 2005

You should lose weight for yourself, not for others.

When people do things just to please others, they feel resentful deep inside, and sooner or later run out of steam and quit.

When the motivation comes from within, it is much stronger, and will carry you through good times and bad times.

To Lose Weight, Eat Slowly

Filed under: Weight Loss Tips — @ 2:35 pm on October 9, 2005

It takes our brain about 20 minutes to realize that we are full.

When you eat too fast, there is not enough time for the “full” feeling to register, so you’d end up eating more.

Eating slowly helps you feel more full and consume less food.

What Are Your Reasons For Eating?

Do you eat because you are hungry?

Or do you eat out of habit, stress or boredom?

Whatever you put in your mouth when you are NOT hungry ends up
as excess fat on your body!

Next time you are about to eat something, ask yourself:
are you really hungry or are you about to eat for the wrong reasons?

Don’t Deprive Yourself Of Treats

Don’t deprive yourself of the things you love to eat.

It’s OK to eat cake, cookies and ice cream, as long as you do it in moderation.

If you deprive yourself of the things you love, you will feel unhappy and quickly burn out and lose your motivationto lose weight.

1 or 2 pieces of cake a week will not make you fat. Don’t feel guilty - you CAN have your cake and eat it too, as long as you don’t go overboard.

To Lose Weight, Dump Your Fattening Daily Routines

Filed under: Weight Loss Tips — @ 9:49 am on October 6, 2005

Do you have any food-related daily routines that are making you fat?

You know, those food “rituals” that you do on auto-pilot, without even thinking about them?

For example, grabbing a cup of coffee as soon as you get to work?

Reaching for the donut inside the box on the office counter?

Eating popcorn while watching TV?

Do you do anything along those lines? Do you have your own, completely unique
food-related habits that are not doing you any good?

Recognize them, and dump them! Even if you dump just one, you’ll still get skinnier than you were before!
